From garage to global success: the history of the KEBA binder
Little did Cenny Borgström realise what he was setting in motion in 1982, in the garage in Törås. There and then, what would become the KEBA binder was born. At the time, it was a simple, manually produced plastic binder with cardboard pages, now known in offices all over the world for its unique function and good design.
Tage & Söner Byggnads AB: The company behind the KEBA success
Two years later, the patent is bought by Tage & Söner Byggnads AB and it is now that manufacturing and sales really take off. Production is housed in premises in Smålandsstenar and investments are made in machinery and tools. This is when the characteristic grips on the spine are added and the cover also gets plastic pages. We don't yet realise that what we are doing is something completely unique in the world. It was not until 1987, when we attended the Paperworld trade fair in Frankfurt, that we realised that the mechanism had no equivalent in any other binder.
KEBA is developed for international standards and becomes a global success
In true Småland spirit, we gather our impressions, go home and tinker in our room and will soon be able to present a binder adapted for the international market. This involves development for European and American punching, and also for the American letter format. Success on the export market is not long in coming, and soon the 50% will be exported from the ever-growing production volume.
From having been a purely manufacturing company, with all sales through agents, we chose to start our own sales organisation in 1996. Marketing and sales work continued in parallel with product development and rationalisation of production. The objective is clear: KEBA will develop high-quality products with unique functions, all under the established tagline: Smarter Office Solutions.

Today, manufacturing is carried out in purpose-built premises in Smålandsstenar, in a highly automated manufacturing process with modern machines and robots.
The range is constantly growing and today consists of forked binders, ring binders, folders, plastic pockets, registers, desk products, wastepaper baskets. In short, everything you may need for your document management.
